Did you catch “the Crescat’s” sad and beautiful story of her post-abortion experience?
You owe it to yourself to read it.
I’m sure the post must be of God, since it accomplishes a minor miracle: the comments make one proud, rather than ashamed, to be a Christian!
Read through them and let anyone fearing to confess sin see the love and mercy that awaits not only from Christ himself, but from his Church. That’s what Christians are really like—in spite of what you may see in the com-boxes when we are debating in the abstract.
Thank you, Katrina Fernandez, for your bold confession.
And for this follow-up post filled with resources for women who have experienced the trauma of abortion.

Jennifer Fulwiler, who recently witnessed a horrific accident, writes at her NC Register blog about seeing a Catholic counselor to help her process her traumatic experience. She had doubts - would therapy be “misused as a replacement for prayer and trust in God”? - but explains in her piece how she overcame those doubts, and how seeing a counselor is helping her heal.
As someone who has greatly benefitted from counseling myself, I want to stand up and cheer when I read pieces like Jen’s. In my... READ MORE

Many of us will never know the tremendous sadness of infertility. We go about our day and focus on how God uses our family size, our openness to life, to draw us closer to Him through trust in his love for us—even in the hard seasons of busy family life.
For some couples, there is a similar lesson in trust, through opposite circumstances entirely. And unless you know someone very personally struggling with infertility, you may be unaware of the sadness of that unique cross.
Yesterday I came across... READ MORE

My copy of the June/July Catholic Digest came in the mail this week and I’ve been working my way through the issue.
My thoughts thus far: the story on Eduardo Verastegui is very interesting, and I can’t wait to see his latest movie For Greater Glory. Are you planning on going?
Also, the Father’s Day gift guide is very helpful. I even sent along one idea to my sister-in-law for my brother. Four words: baseball bat bottle opener. (Need I say more?!) It’s a bottle opener made out of an authentic game... READ MORE
