About Rebecca Teti

Rebecca Teti Rebecca Teti is married to Dennis and has four children (3 boys, 1 girl) who -- like yours no doubt -- are pious and kind, gorgeous, and can spin flax into gold. A Washington, DC, native, she converted to Catholicism while an undergrad at the U. Dallas, where she double-majored in Political Philosophy & Drama. She holds an MA in Political Theory from Catholic University and pre-children worked a variety of non-profit jobs, including as a pro-life lobbyist and later director of the Center for Family Development in Bethesda, MD. Rebecca now writes from home, with special interest in marriage and family issues, whatever the Pope is doing, retrieving Lego bricks from underfoot, and homemade pie.

Alive Inside

witness a resurrection of sorts

“Beautiful” and “amazing” are over-used words, but they’re all I can come up with to describe this clip from a forthcoming documentary about the effect of music on the elderly.

Watch and weep, but in a good way!

Indeed He Is Risen!

Joyous Resurrection!  Ilya Kaverznev

Arwen’s post on the challenge of Easter feasting reminded me of this contemporary Russian painting I adore.

It also reminded me of this Gerard Manley Hopkins poem, which describes the ineffable joy of receiving Christ after a difficult Lent. The penances he describes, however, put anything I have ever tried to shame, and I can’t help thinking the degree of our... READ MORE

I Use NFP Buttons

Here’s something fun.

Spunky pro-NFP blog buttons and badges.

Pictured is my favorite (well, honestly, it’s a tie between that and “We do it every night. Chart.)”

But there are loads of others, and a whole website coming.

On a totally other note: ERIN, the Style, Sex & Substance winner! Shoot me an email—the one you left is not working for me—I’ll leave my contact info in comments.

Faster Acting Than Tylenol

From guru to Jesus is a video I hope you’ll watch.

In it, Belgian priest Fr. Joseph-Marie Verlinde tells the story of his spiritual odyssey from Christian upbringing to Hindu guru to the occult and, finally, back to Catholicism.

His account of what attracts a soul to Eastern religions and how they differ from Christianity is lucid, fascinating, and objective in the sense that he gives these religions... READ MORE

Tell Us About The Religious Liberty Rallies

Did you attend one of the 146 nationwide rallies for religious liberty yesterday?

Share your experiences (or links to your blog posts on the topic) in comments.

My family attended the rally outside the HHS building in DC. Here’s video of our keynote speaker, Star Parker.

Towards the close of the speech she has a moving tribute to all that Catholic institutions do to care for the poor, but she begins by contending that the HHS mandate is a blessing in disguise: because it affords religious believers an opportunity to have a conversation about sexual mores that we ought to have had a long time ago.

She speaks as someone trapped in a very dark place for a very long time and utterly convinced of the liberating and humanizing power of the Gospel.

(Yes, that’s Lila Rose you see consulting with MC Patrick Mahoney in the background.)

Hymns to St. Joseph

To honor St. Joseph on his feast, here’s a beautiful hymn sung by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles.

I’m reprising two other St. Joseph items too, just because I like them!

1. My friend Joe Fornieri’s tribute to his namesake—one of my favorite reflections ever on St. Joseph.

2. Considering the times in which the Church finds itself, a prayer to him as Protector of the Universal Church (at the close of the post).

Happy feast day to the Holy Father and to all the Josephs, Joes, Josephines & Josies out there!

(A polite nod for the hymn to: Donald McClarey.)

Age-Activated ADD

Or: a day in the life...

The publish date indicates this video is eight years old.

It’s new to me, however.  Or perhaps I’ve just forgotten it in all the jumble.

To me the humor is intensified by English subtitles for the English language.
