A Communication Innovation

I bemoan the demise of handwritten correspondence as much as anyone. I fully recognize the superiority of a personal, handwritten note to a computer-generated one and I note quite sadly that letter writing is indeed a dying art.
But I also recognize a really cool idea when I see one. And I happen to think Hazel Mail absolutely is a really cool idea.
At Hazel Mail, you can upload a photo, add your own text, and then have it mailed as a postcard to the recipient(s) of your choice. All from your computer or phone.
I think this is a great opportunity for slackers like me. I always have such grand notions of sending postcards when we take a trip, but I’m usually lucky if the cards get mailed within a month of our return. It’s just that bad.
But a cool service like Hazel Mail seems like a fun way to actually get the job done. At $1.50 per card, I probably wouldn’t send a ton of these, but imagine the fun of sending an old photo for someone’s birthday or a themed photo for party invitations, or ... a fun surprise for anyone you love and want to stay in touch with.
Anyone reading this who owns (and uses) embossed, monogrammed stationery, calligraphy pens or sealing wax can just move along and pretend you never read this pathetic little blog post ...
But for the rest of us? I figure Hazel Mail is a lot more creative and personal than an email, text or Facebook update. Let’s keep in touch!
