A Grand Adventure

Tonight I am having a bunch of neighbor lady friends over for some wild and crazy fun—a Menu Planning Party!
Can you think of anything you’d like to do more? I didn’t think so.
I know, maybe it sounds lame, but the truth is this: it’s going to be fun. Because I’m going to make it fun.
I realized recently that for me, planning a menu feels a lot like work. So I’m going to work to make it fun. About a week ago, I started calling friends in my neighborhood and invited them to come on over and bring a festive drink or a dessert with them. And people said yes! They said they’d love to come. I told everyone to please bring cookbooks or recipes, and that they could swap recipes or plan their menus. Or maybe even just come hang out. Whatever they wanted! I think we’ll just see how it goes and what people want and need.
As for me, I will be taking advantage of the time—I have big plans to get an entire month of menus down, on paper, and start living by it next week.
There are plenty of household chores that I love. And there are plenty that feel a lot like work, the kind of work that would be more bearable if I could share the load, or at the very least take my mind off the load while I did it.
I’ll keep you posted. And if you live nearby, you’re invited! We won’t be doing a chorus line, but it should be a good time nonetheless.
