A Week of Rosary Blogging
Posted by Sarah Reinhard in Faith on Monday, October 04, 2010 9:30 AM
Hi everyone! It’s an honor and a delight to be guest blogging this week at one of my favorite places on the internet.
A month or so ago, I asked Danielle if I could spend a week doing some rosary blogging here during October, which is the Month of the Rosary (because, you know, y’all don’t hear enough about my devotion to Mary), and she said yes!
A little about me, before I tell you my plan for the week: I’ve been a regular in these parts, from Mary blogging last year to feature articles about various titles of Mary. I also have a great time on the Faith & Family podcast every so often, and you can also hear me during my Mary Moment segment on Catholic Moments and during Mary in the Kitchen on Catholic Foodie. I’ve written in a few places online, and there’s always my little corner of cyberspace.
I’m a wife to the world’s greatest Prince Charming (say what you will, but you won’t convince me otherwise) and mom to two girls. We’re expecting our third baby in early December, and just recently, we added two Jack Russell puppies and two kittens to our chaos. (I like to avoid boredom.) We live in central Ohio, on a patch of farmland that speaks to my soul and inspires my faith.
Hope that’s enough of an introduction of me, because I’m raring to tell you what I have in mind for this week.
It’s been my experience that there are quite a few people who struggle with devotion to Mary. So often, we see her on that pedestal at church, and she seems neither relevant to our modern lives nor approachable from our struggling vantage.
Makes it kind of hard to turn to her in the rosary, doesn’t it?
Add to that the fact that the rosary is, well, more than just a little imposing, especially if you haven’t practiced it or you don’t have someone to encourage you.
Later today, I’ll share some thoughts about the mechanics of the rosary, and then we’ll move through the week with a discussion of my struggles (in the hopes that you’ll get some encouragement…and maybe share your own tips), some of my insights from years of fighting with the rosary, and even some confessions.
Above all, I’d like this to be a week of conversation. I’ll be active in the comments, and you’re always welcome to contact me directly, through email or any of the various social networks where I’m active.
Thanks to Danielle and the Faith & Family Live team for the opportunity to play in one of my favorite sandboxes!
