Carmen Miranda Cake

Says You: wonderfully awful or awfully wonderful?

I can’t decide if this cake plate is a really fun something I would love to have…

...or an abomination unto my soul.

It’s actually part of a three-tiered set, which you can see here. (Below the main image.)

What say you?

No contest: it’s wonderful! I found it for cheaper in the Solutions catalog, though. I will top it with my husband’s favorite: fruitcake.

Oh my. I think I can safely say that I do not have the personality to pull off that plate. But if one does….one should.

I LOVE IT. GET IT!!!!!!!!!That plate is all kinds of fabulous!

It looks like tons of fun, but as someone who takes her cake very seriously, I think for presentation value, the plate should enhance, not detract. As a focal point and conversation starter, go for it. It will definitely get people talking!

BTW… your post title had me hoping you were posting the recipe for some kind of fruit cake alternative with bananas and pineapple.

I have to go with just plain AWFUL!!! It doesn’t work for me in any way.
But hey, if you like it ....... go for it.

Personally, I think it is hideous, but to each their own.

Not for me but my MIL would probably love it !

Here’s my take on it: taken seriously, the cake plate is an abomination.  Taken as a joke and presented with a flourish for the amusement of your guests, it’s fabulous.

It’s all about attitude, right? smile

You’d have to make your cake to go with your cake plate.

I wouldn’t use it Thanksgiving or Christmas or a baby shower but for a fun 40th birthday, or Bunco or just because…I think it is wonderful!!

I would have to go with AWFUL for me, but if someone else likes it than good for them.

Oh, boy.  I think it is hideous.  Unfortunately, I will be giving it’s companion teapot to my sister-in-law for Christmas.  I have no idea if she will like it.  My mother-in-law offered to pick up something for Christmas for me to give her daughter.  I was (and am) very grateful that she is so generous and thoughtful to help me.  I just don’t know if her daughter will like the gift and it will have my name on it!

It put a smile on my face and I’m sure it will make people stop at the dessert!!

Today we have cakes specially made for kids, for boys or girls; in fact, there are cakes for any happy occasion that deserves a celebration.
