Casual Fridays - School's Out, Work's In

In a few weeks, Spring break will be upon us. For many lucky families, this means a trip to someplace fun or a much needed break. But for some working parents, school vacation can cause major logistical issues if the kids are out of school but mom and dad still have to be at work.
In my community, some businesses have begun to think creatively about providing solutions for those caught up in this situation. Karate gyms, art studios or dancing lesson providers will provide Spring break “camps” that can be very fun opportunities for children whose moms and dads are unable to take a week’s vacation. Some even provide transportation. Other families may look at swapping days of family fun with friends, with a trade-off of babysitting or older kid “hang out” days, alternating throughout the week.
Regardless of your job, if you’re a mom who works outside the home, you’re going to be doing some planning for Spring Break, either for childcare or for being away from work for a week. I am personally already planning for the nine days I hope to take off prior to and immediately following Easter so that I can “unplug” and enjoy some needed spiritual and recreational rejuvenation with my family.
Have you anticipated this and how much of a logistical problem does it cause you with your situation? What are your plans this year? Are you already mentally lying on the beach to get you through a rough spell at work, or are things smooth sailing around your workplace these days?
