Danielle, I received my first text this morning and can’t wait to see the entire book. Thank you so much to you and Elizabeth for your wonderful support of us Catholic Moms and for being such wonderful role models!
Daily Support Throughout Lent
Posted by Danielle Bean in News on Saturday, February 20, 2010 11:17 AM
You might recall that for the past couple of years Elizabeth Foss and I have shared daily promptings throughout the 40 days of Lent, reminding moms of small ways to pray, fast, and give every day.
Last year, at the end of Lent, many moms asked if these daily devotions were available in book form. Which gave us an idea.
“Why not give them a whole year?” Elizabeth asked.
And so the concept for our joint book project was born: Small Steps for Catholic Moms: Think. Pray. Act. Every Day. The book (and its companion study guide) will be released in April, but you can pre-order yours today.
In the meantime, we are sharing the Lenten prompts with you here at Faith & Family. You might have noticed the Lenten calendar in the right sidebar. This will update daily throughout the 40 days of Lent (Sundays excluded) with prompts to Pray, Fast, and Give. (We are also working on getting a code for you to be able to post this calendar on your own blog or website—I will update you when that is available.)
In addition, you can sign up to receive daily Lenten inspiration from Small Steps and Faith & Family by submitting your cell phone number in the widget in the left sidebar (on the homepage). You can also subscribe by texting FFLIVE to 41411. This service is free, but standard texting rates apply. You can unsubscribe any time by texting STOP to 41411.
I hope you will take advantage of the new ways we are seeking to support and encourage you this Lenten season. Here’s to a fruitful 40 days!

Quick question. When I click on the daily meditation the text is behind other text and I can’t read all of the words. Is this just my computer? If I’m doing something wrong that could be fixed that would be great!
I am having the same problem, but I’m loving what I can read!
Hmmm, it looks like that happens in Internet Explorer. I will see if it can be fixed. If you have a different browser (Firefox? Chrome?) on your computer, try opening it with that. In the meantime, though, the daily entries will be updated here: http://www.faithandfamilylive.com/lenten_meditations
I love the idea of your book. I know how much I looked forward to your daily reflections last Lent. I am a little bummed though. If I’m reading this right, the only way I can get this sent to me is if I text, right? I don’t text, so hopefully I’ll remember to come to the F&F blog page - usually I just read everything from my google reader.
Just a personal problem, I know!!
Thanks for doing these. They truly help make my Lent holier.
SacredVerse.com delivers inspirational text messages for meditation from Scripture, the writings of great saints and popes. Inspirational text messages received in your cell phone is a great way to be inspired while on the go.
Please don’t forget that some of your readers are overseas and can’t receive a text. I third the motion for email if it’s possible!
And I’m bookmarking this in my “Daily Blogs” list so I don’t forget to come and find it myself in any case.
Can’t wait for the book. I know what’s on my birthday list now.
CONGRATS DANIELLE AND ELIZABETH!! I’m totally pre-ordering! I’ve been waiting for this and not only can I get it online, but in book form too? I’m soooooo happy. What a great surprise!!!
Much appreciation to you both!
For those who had trouble viewing the calendar in IE, it should be working now. We can’t afford the time/labor that would be involved with emailing, but those who cannot text can check the calendar on this page daily. Or follow me on twitter/facebook, as the texts automatically post to my accounts.
