Dare to Design

a very cool contest from Shabby Apple

Hi girls!

Do we have any fledgling designers out there? A little birdie just told me that Shabby Apple is currently hosting their second annual Dare to Design Contest!

Care to give it a go? Here are the details in a nutshell:

Simply design a dress and post an image of it to your personal blog with a link back to Shabby Apple by October 15th, 2010. The Top 15 entries will then be posted to the Shabby Apple blog to be voted on by their readers.

If your fetching frock wins it will become a part of Shabby Apple’s Spring Collection and you will receive a 3% royalty on every dress sold. (To familiarize yourself with the ever-so-slightly more detailed instructions just visit the Shabby Apple website.)

Very, very cool.

How fun would it be to have a Faith and Family Live reader win? Come on, girls! We’re rooting for you! I know you can do it!

Oh, and do me a favor? If you enter, please let me know so I can write a follow-up post featuring your dresses! Thanks! (My email address is bettybeguiles [at] gmail [dot] com.)

Happy designing, ladies!

I have a question.  I see alot of reference to Shabby Apple on religious blogs, but also a reference to them on a secular blog.  Are they a company that specializes in modest clothes, or are they a brand that’s “in” right now?  Also, does anyone know if they do clothes that look good on a , ahem, more “mature” mom ?  I was on their website last night, and took the body type quiz.  The dresses they came up with for my body type were very cute, but too “young” for me.  Or any other suggestions for a website for a 43 year old mom?  ( and please don’t tell me Chicos wink )

They are a company that specializes in modest clothes though they are also growing in popularity. I believe all of their dresses have sleeves, hemlines to the knee and necklines high enough to obscure cleavage (their personal standards).

You might want to check out Talbots and Ann Taylor. They are a little pricey but they have great sales! Their pieces are classic and well-suited for women of all ages, imho.

Take care!

Have you tried Coldwater creek?  And what is wrong with Chico’s? They’re all expensive, but that’s what factory outlets and clearance racks are for!
