Discussing Death and College Prep

On this week’s show (click here to listen or click on the player above), Danielle, Elizabeth and I share a conversation about how to discuss the topic of death and dying with children of varying ages. With the death of recent high profile public figures, our families have had ongoing discussions about end of life issues from a Catholic perspective and the comfort we find in Catholic rituals for funerals. Have you had to discuss the death of a close relative or friend with little ones or teens in your home? Do you have any resources, books, counseling programs or other recommendations to share that might help our community of moms?
We’re also very happy in this episode to share two great voice feedback messages from our friends Barb in Nebraska and Sarah Reinhard. We LOVE sharing your feedback! You can call and send us a message on our new listener feedback line at 1-413- FAITH-55 (or 1-413-324-8455). Leave us a comment, a question, a suggestion, or your own thoughts about topics we’ve discussed in our podcasts, or simply leave a comment here at the blog. We’d love to hear from you!
Elizabeth shares our Faith & Family Feature Product for today, which comes from Catholic mom Trish Bailey. Her Catholic Handmade Goat Milk Soap and Hand Poured Candles can be found at Saintly Soaps and Carmel Soaps.
In our final topic, we begin looking at the topic of applying for college. For any parent of a junior high or high school student, it’s not too early to begin speaking with your children about college plans and putting some organizational efforts into place. For parents and students, CollegeBoard.com is a “must bookmark” resource. Take a look at their College Planning Calendar, which can help you work your way through this complex process. Do you have a child applying to college this year or have you successfully navigated the application process? We’d love to hear about your experiences! Leave a comment hear on the blog or give us a call any time at 1-413- FAITH-55 (or 1-413-324-8455) to share your wisdom.
