Family Gatherings and Mother Mary

Join us for this week's podcast

This week on the podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Elizabeth Foss, Sarah Reinhard and I talk about the joys and stresses of welcoming extended family into our homes for family gatherings.  What tips do you have for Lisa to feed and shelter everyone, enjoy their company and not fall into the Martha vs. Mary syndrome. How do you avoid any family drama or differences (when it comes to religion or politics)?

This week’s Faith & Family Feature Product is the line of Vocation Dolls from WeeBelievers.com.  Our staff writer Tim Drake recently wrote the following about these adorable dolls:  “Set aside the stuffed animal and the American Girl knock-off. There’s a new doll in town, and this one just might help your son or daughter think about the possibility of a religious vocation. Father Juan Pablo and Sister Mary Clara are 16-inch plush vocation dolls. Each doll comes with a booklet that highlights vocation stories of priests and religious women from a variety of orders, allowing children an inside look at the real-life call experienced by priests and nuns. The booklet also has ideas for parents on fostering religious vocations within the family.”

In our final segment, we look at our celebrations of our Blessed Mother Mary during this Marian month of May.  Does your family enjoy special devotions during this month when we remember Mary?  Do you find your personal devotion to Mary enhanced during this month?  How has becoming a mother impacted upon your devotion to Mary?

Don’t forget to pick up your own copy of Small Steps for Catholic Moms by Elizabeth Foss and Danielle Bean. Also, be sure to head over to CatholicMom.com for our wonderful May Mary Giveaway for your chance to win some amazing prizes!

Registration is now open for our Faith & Family Mom’s Day Away event on October 30.  Click here for information and registration details.
