I’ve heard of some parents allowing their sons to wear gory costumes by saying they had to be saints, and think this is such a great idea! Boys love gore, so why not help them learn about a saint or martyr along the way? I’m a convert, though, so I don’t really know any of the saints. I was wondering if there’s a book out there that goes into the gross details that young boys enjoy, somehow without being too scary and lifting their minds to the Lord? We don’t have children yet, but I’m just thinking ahead! And hoping one of you will write the book if there’s not one already so it’ll be published by the time we have fifth grade sons

On this week’s podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above), as we close out the month of October—the month of the Rosary—we discuss the topic of family Rosaries. We are joined on this week’s podcast by Sarah Reinhard, who has written prolifically on the topic of Marian devotions. Rebecca, Sarah and I discuss the “real world” difficulties of praying the Rosary as a family. Do you and your family come together regularly to pray the Rosary? What practical suggestions can you offer for families who would like to begin this devotion?
In this week’s listener feedback, Laura suggests the lapbook resources from Lapbooks for Catholics, especially the Rosary Faith Folder. Listener Susie suggests Holy Rosary by Father Lawrence Lovasik and offers a unique suggestion for using this book with children.
Robyn Lee shares this week’s Faith & Family Feature Product, the Rosary Lariat by Gary. The Rosary Lariat uses a unique design employing a bail to keep the beads flowing smoothly through the bail while keeping the crucifix stationary.
In our second topic of the day, we take a look at how our families celebrate Halloween. How will you be celebrating this weekend? You may find the following links helpful to you in your Halloween and All Saints Day preparations:
