Fashionably Late

What words of wisdom would you share for an overdue pregnancy?

For the last weeks, friends and fans of the wonderful Greg and Jennifer Willits have been following the final days of Jennifer’s pregnacy.  As of today, she is six days overdue and both are anxiously awaiting the birth of their fifth child, a little girl who will join their family of four boys.

I’m a “humongous” Greg and Jennifer fan.  I’ve followed this wonderful couple since the earliest days of their Rosary Army podcast and am now fortunate enough to be able to listen to their Catholics Next Door show over on XM radio.  For the past few weeks, I’ve been regularly following Greg’s Facebook and Twitter updates on Jennifer’s progress and listening to their excitement on their show each day.  Like an excited auntie, I can’t wait for them to welcome their little princess into the world!

But she seems to be taking her sweet time, so Greg and Jennifer have been receiving all kinds of advice from parents on strategies for bringing on labor.  They even went so far as to take a family field trip to a restaurant whose Eggplant Parmesan is reputed to have brought on labor for over 900 pregnant moms.  You can watch this outing on the wonderful video below to join in on the fun!

I know we moms can help but share our own experiences when we hear about others who are expecting babies.  Greg and Jennifer’s wait has reminded me of my own moments of welcoming babies into the world.  Eric was almost exactly on time and Adam, due to special issues, was actually induced three weeks early.  So I have no special words of wisdom to share with Greg and Jennifer - but I’m betting that many of you do!

Were your babies early, on time, or late?  What helped you to “move along” a stalled labor or to help deal with the anticipation of waiting for a child with it’s own schedule?  I absolutely love Greg and Jennifer and am praying for them and all of our other pregnant friends every step of the way - for safe and happy deliveries and healthy babies, no matter when they decide to join us!
