Festive Socks Are a Sweet Treat

Fashion Friday (Monday) vol. 5

(Editor’s Note: Despite being sick with strep throat, Hallie wrote this blog post in plenty of time for Friday, but I neglected to post it. I apologize for my oversight and hope you will forgive me as you enjoy this Monday version of Hallie’s popular Fashion Friday column.—DB)

Hello, girls! Happy Advent! Can you believe Christmas is a mere 18 days away? My head is spinning! I’m trying my best to find that seemingly ever-elusive balance between the quiet prayerful reflection that Advent requires and inspires and the festive preparation that, though joyful, can easily consume me if I am not careful.

For the next three weeks, I thought it would be fun to feature a few things that I think would make delightful stocking stuffers for your girlfriends and/or female family members. I hope you will share any treasures you have stumbled upon in the combox. Perhaps we can take some of the legwork out of the Christmas shopping process for one another leaving more time for the quieter pursuits our souls crave at this time of year.

My first stocking stuffer suggestion actually comes care of my lovely friend, Elisa. She recently discovered that Target sells cozy knee high socks in a variety of festive patterns and colors. And lest you think it couldn’t get better than that (I know…I had my doubts, as well), she managed to nab several pairs for only $1-2 each! The website is selling them for closer to $6 but, like Elisa, my local Target sells them for much less.

Elisa paired her white, cream, turquoise, and brown polka-dotted knee highs with a simple brown dress and cardigan which I think sounds absolutely adorable. I love sneaking a flash of color or lively pattern into a more subdued outfit. Any chance we could get a picture, Elisa?

I happen to be smitten with the pink and white striped socks. They seem to me to be the perfect addition to the many hours I am sure to spend baking in the kitchen, wrapping presents in front of the fire and smooching under the Mistletoe in the coming weeks. Wouldn’t you say that’s true, dear husband of mine? Hint, hint. wink

So, thank you, Elisa! What an excellent find!

I hope you all have a blessed Advent week, ladies!
