Fourteen is Funny

Adam turned 14 this week!

Fourteen is a funny age - you’re a teenage for real, but frequently still act like a kid.  These are some of the things I’ve observed about fourteen year old around my house the past few days:

Fourteen year olds may be crying one moment and laughing hysterically the next, leaving their mom to scratch her head and wonder how to react

Fourteen year olds are constantly hungry, but also are loving learning to cook (but not necessarily clean up the kitchen after themselves)

Fourteen year olds need to change their clothes a lot (even if they’re guys) some days and other days may be caught wearing the same shirt three days in a row

Fourteen year olds are deeply concerned about the world around them and might make more informed voters than some of their adult counterparts

Fourteen year olds are filled with compassion and can’t just look away when asked to help someone in need

Fourteen year olds like to take long bike rides because they’re dying for a little independence

Fourteen year olds give great hugs when they’re in the mood, but may not want you to even say “Hello” to them when they’re not

Fourteen year olds may do crazy things like taking the seat that was removed from the back of the SUV to make room for cargo and turning it into their own personal reading corner because it “looks cool” and “feels comfy”

We’re still conducting research around here on the care and feeding of fourteen year olds, but we’re off to a pretty great start with this particular kid.  He’s fourteen in an entirely different fashion than his big brother was—which just goes to show that every fourteen year old is unique and wonderful in his or her own God-given way.

Happy Birthday Adam!

Hey Adam—we knew you when you were younger (a couple weeks ago). Happy, Happy B-day. Many Blessings.

ps: Is that neat-looking seat for sale??? Top dollars paid!
