Thanks for the reminder. I think I have to get some too.
Friendly Reminder

Taper candles—including purple ones—were on sale at my grocery store this morning.
Thank goodness, or I’d definitely have forgotten to buy Advent candles until about two weeks into Advent.
Last year I was smugly certain I was prepared….
but when I opened the box of “Advent” candles I’d seen in my cabinet, they were, alas, white tapers I’d stored in an old box.
(Recycling in my home is often self-sabotage).
To save you such troubles, I remind you that Sunday is the Solemnity of Christ the King, last Sunday of the liturgical year, and you’ll need your candles by the following Sunday if you’re doing an Advent wreath this year.

Helpful tip that I finally learned: when you get almost to Christmas, take a look at your Advent candles…will they make it another year, or not? Then, go to your next year calendar—it’s only a week or so away, you know you have one—and write on the next year’s November month: ‘Buy Advent candles” or “don’t need candles this year”. Now, you may have to go find them, but if you need to buy them, at least you have almost a month reminder!
The kids don’t like when I buy grocery store tapers—they aren’t the deep purple of the ones you buy that are made specifically for advent. (which naturally cost more.) I see that Amazon has a good selection of sizes. Also—Christian bookstores usually carry them.
I bought candles when I saw them in August. I hope I can remember where I put them.
;D Hahaha….thats very typical of me as well.
