I have really been enjoying the show!

I’d like to see more guests that are doing work to build up the Church and a Culture of Life, while being wives/mothers. Kind of like you ladies already are!

But as someone trying to finish grad school, running a non-profit, and homeschool 5 kids, I’d love to get tips from other women on how to make it all fit together, or when to know to say “No more!”.  I could use seeing women who have survived raising young families admist struggles so I know that it IS possible!

Just my two cents…

I just finished watching the show and love it!  I really enjoyed the topics presented and the discussion was amazing.  The topic of raising teens in the faith was especially good and one that really grabbed my attention.  I will continue to watch and look forward to future episodes.  Thank you!

My current issue/project is finding a good spiritual director for my teenage son who has Asperger syndrome. Most resources I have found through Catholic sources are for people with cognitive disabilities. I am looking for a priest (or brother, or even a layman) who can spiritually mentor my son and give him guidance on moral issues. My husband and I are doing as well as we can. But my husband is not Catholic (though he supports me in my faith and in raising our boys as Catholics) and at this age my son needs to ‘hear it’ from others. We are cultivating relationships at our parish (we have wonderful priests here) but what I am really looking for is a priest who has experience with people who have developmental disbilities. Perhaps such a man does not exist! But I am looking I am in the Arch. of NY and have put out the word. That is my Lenten prayer and I would be interested to see how other Catholic parents have handled the spiritual education of their children with autism spectrum disorders. I understand this may be too narrow a focus for your show. My other suggestion is spiritual direction generally. Not too many Catholics are aware of this. I learned of it when reading Susan Howatch’s Starbridge/St. Benet novels. Before then I thought only priests and nuns had spiritual directors! I think many people would be interested to learn more. Thank you for listening. PS my captcha is Wish75 LOL

I think I have watched all the episodes thus far and really enjoy and look forward to The Gist. I would love ideas on how to recognized and celebrate liturgical seasons, such as Lent, with the family. Another topic I’m interested in hearing is education. How did you ladies decide on whether to go public, private or parochial for your children’s education? What are the pros and cons for Catholics (aside from cost)? I would also be interested in hearing your experiences with apologetics or defending your Catholic faith and beliefs with friends, family and even strangers. This has be on my mind since the issue of mandating contraception coverage in Obamacare. How can one defend their view instead of remaining silent in the midst of moral societal issues? Thank you!

I’ve only seen two episodes, and I like what I see!  I just haven’t had the time to do anything but work, work, work lately.
I too would like to see something about spiritual direction, and the importance of taking time to be with the Lord, on a retreat, or just on a daily basis.  Self care is also an important topic for Mom’s.

I have only been able to see one show (I will try to see the most recent one above when I have time), but I loved it, and would just love to watch it regularly. When you had first announced it I had trouble trying to find a way to watch it on demand; can you do that now?

Danielle et al, you girls are doing such a terrific job, keep up the good work. The idea for discussions about education - both secondary and college - would be very interesting, and I also think that the whole theme of trying to raise your kids counterculturally is a huge uphill feat for all of us, that this topic would be welcomed too. This could include discussion on:
1. technology and internet regulation
2. sports and extracurricular activities - how do we instill a sense of committment and perseverence in our kids without going off the deep end (like Carolee I am a hockey mom too!)
3. Work and Service - how do we teach our kids work ethic and a sense of service in this age of laziness and selfishness
4. Chastity - a big one!!! Can you get Jason and Crystalina?
5. Marriage - how to keep yours strong, and how to teach its principles to your own kids
6. When illness or disease affects the family - how to cope, how to get through it
7. Learning disabilities in the family (like the Asperger’s suggestion above)
8. Food - what should we feed our kids? What’s healthy anymore? This show could talk about food allergies, too. (I sometimes DVR Jeannette Benkovic’s (sp?) show and listen to it, and heard a good bunch of shows on GMO foods from her)

I might think of more later, but that’s it for now. I can’t wait to watch your newest episode. Like I said, keep up the good work, I love watching it. The 3 of you are terrific!

Another one…..

I forgot,, another topic that is near and dear to my heart is the garbage these kids listen to on the radio. Let’s face it - kids LOVE music. There are lots and lots of excellent Catholic and non-Catholic Christian musicians with wonderful messages - and really great music! I think a lot of people just don’t know about them. If there could be a show to introduce people to these great singers and bands, then less of our dear children would be subjecting themselves to that horrendous music with such negaticce messages. Just a thought.

It’s really so nice of you guys to ask US for feedback - it makes us feel like we’re part of it.

How about social media?  For example, how do you handle it when friends/family members post things like ” I stand with Planned PArenthood” on their FAcebook pages?

That’s a really good one.  I closed my FB account partially for this reason;  the vast majority of my friends and family are unfortunately “pro-choice”, and it was hard to see all that in my newsfeed, and how to know when/if/how to respond.

Two issues lately have left me wondering, when do we draw the line when we are indirectly (or maybe directly) supporting morally offensive organizations?  The HHS mandate got me thinking about this.  We cannot pay for immoral acts/drugs in good conscience, such as abortion or contraceptives.  That is clear.  But then there are lots of grey areas on so many issues.  Interestingly, the most recent time I have faced this dilemma is with Girl Scouts.  Two dear friends recently sent me information about the horrid agenda that GS is promoting.  My daughter is currently in a GS troop, which is a very fun group with great leaders.  They have rode horses, made a meal together, & sang Christmas carols at a nursing home.  It is completely harmless, but I have paid dues to an organization that offers Planned Parenthood as the place to go if a girl is pregnant!  Then I also saw the wonderful witness of the young woman on ‘the Gist’, who is clearly finding a positive niche within the GS organization.  So, my suggestion for a topic would be, where do we stop supporting or patronizing organizations or businesses that are morally objectionable?

A guest who would be great is the Catholic musician Matt Maher. His music is on main stream Christian radio. Also, how to incorporate a home alter into your home: where to put it, what should/could be on it, if you ladies have one where it is & how you & your families use it to pray, etc.

I listen to a local Chrisitan radio station, and I had no idea that Matt Maher was Catholic. That’s awesome!
