Great Job, Mom!

Small Successes vol. 47

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that.

To participate, just write up a list of 3 of your recent Small Successes and post it on your blog along with the Small Successes button (go here to get the code). You are not required to use the button, but please do link back to the main post here. Then you can add your blog here using the Mr. Linky form (please link to the individual blog post, not the home page of your blog).

If you don’t have a blog, you can share your Small Successes in the comments.

To get us started, here are my small successes for this week:

1. I successfully snookered my kids into stringing enough popcorn and cranberries for our tree (which goes up on Saturday). I think. It always winds up being taller than I think.

2. Very poorly timed mystery poop-cident in the bathroom yesterday morning? Cleaned up. And this is the first I have spoken of it.

3. I hosted a holiday dinner for Dan’s family last Friday while his brother was in town. The turkey dinner was relaxing and fun, the kids had a great time catching up with their uncle whom they haven’t seen in almost 2 years, and no one breathed a word of politics. MAJOR success!

Okay, now you share! I love reading about your successes each week! Please share all of your awesomeness from the past week.

Great job here! Stringing popcorn AND keeping poop-cidents calm…that’s SUCCESS for sure!

Avoiding politics at family events—- that’s huge, especially if the views are deeply held across the spectrum.  We hardly ever avoid politics but do avoid arguments by assuming each is coming from a place of goodwill, even if misguided.

1.  Finally put away the Hallow’s Eve costumes!
2.  Cleaned the clutter off our television unit and even dusted it.  Then, later that night, went to confession to clean the dustbunnies from my heart.
3.  Helped sister and brother-in-law clean their new house before the furniture was brought in and brought over some lasagna for dinner.

Sorry I clicked the Mr Linky’s enter button before I could stop myself! Realized my mistake and now I am not sure how to delete the first one? Not a success but it did make me laugh at myself.

1. Ordered, addressed & mailed 120 Christmas cards.
2.  Went to confession
3.  Had 3 girls dance in the Nutcracker, was able to makeup, hair & costume for all three in under 30 minutes flat by end of weekend.  Did not do stage mom freak out once.

1.  Dealt with the fact I am not feeling well.(Want a long tirade? It started about 5 weeks ago when I had a really bad tooth ache and needed a root canal, then I picked up a cold, then a sinus infection, ovarian cyst… but thankful that they are just minor things and not life threatening issues.
2. Dealt with that fact that because I am not feeling well I will not get a lot of Christmas baking done.
3.  Dealt with the fact that because I am not feeling well and will not get a lot of Christmas baking done, I will still have a Merry Christmas!!!!

Mailed Christmas cards and presents on time. Managing to keep up with housework a 15 month old baby and being 31 weeks pregnant :o) (Little girl no. 3 on the way YAY!), and baking a chocolate cake from scratch this week. Sooo yummy!
