Always like to share a tip:
If you have an oil stain on clothes or tablecloth…spray with cleaner (like shout) AND spot with baby powder. Even if you have dried it in the dryer…just keep doing it and it takes the stain away!

Thank you!!!!

Baby powder is powerful stuff.  I like to use it to get sand off our skin, especially after playing in the sandbox.

Hi Ladies,
Can anyone suggest a store or website where I can find reasonably priced nursing clothes, preferably not intended for maternity wear also. Additionally, I’m having a hard time finding a nursing bra that I like. I need at least one good going out of the house bra that I can feel confident in. I’d like something with a little padding and support (34D), I could probably handle having an underwire since I would only be wearing it when I leave the house. I have kind of a petite frame and I always feel like the cups are too far apart and/or go up too high into my underarms… If anyone has similiar issues and has found a solution I would love to hear it! Thanks!!

I like these: http://www.modestmiddles.com/

I’m about the same size as you (same band, but I need a bigger cup size) and I found some good ones at http://www.Motherwear.com, but the one that I consider my good bra to wear out and about and be well-supported is actually from JCPenney It’s hard to tell online sometimes, but I am pretty sure it is this one: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1572a09&Nao=0&Ne=4+840+877+878+5+961+6+29+3+579+963+1014+1031+8+587+15+12+1011+598+11+506+10+23+585+969+596+1022+586+1007+879+968+1027+18+904+903+833+1545&hdnOnGo=true&NOffset=0&Ntt=nursing+bra&SearchString=nursing+bra&N=4294959029&SO=0&PSO=0&CmCatId=searchresults
Good luck!
Oh and if you are ever looking for a splurge, I absolutely love HotMilk brand…they are so comfy and come in a wide variety of size and are pretty-prettier than any of my non-nursing bras!

Honestly, for maternity/nursing clothes, I go for the cheapest, esp. b/c I’ve covered all seasons in my pregnancies.  Old Navy is okay.  THE best accessory that extends the life of “regular clothes” and that I wear nonstop while nursing is a Belly Band.  I make my own, but I think there’s a website & probably knockoffs as well.

As for nursing bras, Target has been my go-to.  I prefer cotton, underwire, and flesh-colored (no need for any eye-catching colors when I’m trying to be discreet! grin  and Target has them.

I have an unglazed white ceramic holy water font which has water stains. Any suggestions for cleaning it?

I don’t have any suggestions but I have to say this is the PERFECT question for this forum! It’s a Catholic stain.  It made me smile!

You are too funny!

dip a Q-tip in bleach & dab, let sit, then rinse?

Have you tried putting it out in the sun?

Thank you for the suggestions—and the affirmation! I will let you know how it goes

I am looking for recommendations for a dishwasher.  We are a family of 14 and are looking for a great dishwasher that will clean very well and take a relative beating.  Any suggestions?

We had a Bosch in our last house and it was great.

Love our KitchenAid stainless interior.

I know a lot of people like their Bosch dishwashers but a word of caution.  When drying dishes they rely on the heat from the wash to do the drying.  We had one for two days and all our dishes were damp to the point we couldn’t unload them into the cupboards without drying them first.  We wash a lot of plastic (cups, etc.) so that apparently makes it worse.  Maybe someone with a Bosch could talk about this better than I can.  All I know is that it wasn’t going to work for us and since the salesman neglected to mention that the store graciously returned it and helped me pick out a different one.  A stainless still Kitchenaid.  Much better for us.

Can anyone please share some good meatless recipes?  I would like to start getting ready for Lent!  Thanks!

does chicken stock count as meat? if so, the soup link won’t work for lent… here are two links to two dishes we love in my house! leave the bacon garnish off of the soup, of course. smile

I LOVED this recipe so much it’s going into my regular rotation: http://www.closetcooking.com/2009/09/kolokythokeftedes-zucchini-and-feta.html
zucchini and feta balls.  Pretty easy, cheap, and healthy.  I think the kids would like it even if they don’t like zucchini, because it’s crispy and fried in oil.  So flavorful it’s great by itself, but would be good with a dip, or on top of salad with dressing for a whole meal.  Along the same lines, falafel: chop half an onion and a couple cloves of garlic in the food processor.  Add one can of chickpeas (drain, reserve the liquid), an egg, 1/2 cup flour, salt, pepper, coriander, and cumin to taste, and lots of dried or fresh parsley.  A little olive oil and lemon if you like, add some of the reserved chickpea liquid if it’s too thick to process.  Form into balls or patties and fry in a good amount of oil or bake on a greased sheet.  Serve in pita with hummus and veggies or on salad with dressing.

Looking forward to more recipes!  I get in such a rut with vegetarian meals.

BROCCOLI CHEESE SOUP
6 C water
1 10 oz pkg frozen chopped broccoli (obviously you can use fresh; and I usually use a 16 oz bag of frozen chopped broccoli)
3/4 C finely chopped onion (I use some onion powder instead)
2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp. garlic powder
8 oz American cheese
2 C half-and-half
1/4 C butter
separately:
1/3 C flour mixed with 1/2 C cold water—mix together until there are no lumps.
If you have a 12 oz pkg of 16 slices of cheese, use 11 slices.

Bring water to boil; add broc and onion. Boil covered 11 minutes.
Add seasonings and cheese; stir until cheese melts.
Add 1/2&1/2 and butter. Stir and heat to boiling. Slowly add smooth flour/water mixture to hot mixture, stirring rapidly.
Cook and stir until consistency of heavy cream. Don’t boil. (This step doesn’t take long.)
Serve with crackers or croutons. Enjoy!
I’ll try to add a couple more faves tomorrow.  Also, with some soups, you could sub veggie stock for flavor, but meatless.

As for the chicken stock—Use vegetable stock!

I make wild rice and black beans—one package of rice mix to one can of beans.  It is easy, delicious and filling.
