He’s Gotta Secret

One of the boys is celebrating a birthday this week, and all the talk seems to be focused on the upcoming celebration. We have been discussing themes (a wrestling party), desserts (chocolate cake with a wrestling mask on top), and of course presents (fortunately, no requests for wrestling outfits).
As an aside, I’d like to mention that we are not big WWF fans around here. The love of wrestling stems from a two-fold source of a) owning the movie Nacho Libre and b) being a boy. So thank you, Jack Black and genetics.
Tonight, one of my sons asked what the birthday boy was getting as his gift.
“Please tell me,” he pleaded, “I really want to know.”
“No,” I said, “I’m afraid you’ll tell.”
“I won’t tell,” he pleaded, “I won’t”
“Are you sure?”
He assured me he would never, ever tell, under no circumstances.
“I don’t know,” I said. “I think you’re going to tell.”
“I won’t tell. I won’t”
So I leaned down and whispered in his ear the gift Daddy and I were planning to give.
My boy stared up at me, when I was finished. Looking to the side he bit his bottom lip.
“I’m going to tell,” he said, before quickly regaining his composure.
And then we went over all the reasons why he would not be telling. OR ELSE.
