Home Spaces

Recently I started working from home a few days a week.
It took me some time to adjust to working from home. I missed the daily buzz of working in an office, I missed the convenience of being able to work directly with the designers and most of all, I missed having the blessed sacrament right there in the office.
Working from home has its benefits, however. Since there is no one at my house during the day, it is quiet and easier for me to finish writing projects.
I enjoy working from home, but sometimes it gets a little lonely. There is no one coming by my desk, fewer phone calls, no delivery people ... nothing. I have to remind myself to take breaks or by the end of the day my head will hurt from concentrating so hard (you know that feeling you get after taking a long test?)
Many people who work from home gave me advice about getting out of the house to see actual human beings and also, to make my home office a place I want to be.
I have these ambitious dreams for my home office. I would paint the walls a pretty sky blue, hang shelves and put up one of those inspiration posters. I would buy fresh flowers for my office and light yummy smelling candles and all of this of course (ahem ... for any boss that might be reading this) would make me very efficient and hard-working.
I must have been talking to my mom recently about my dream home office because she stopped by my house to bring me this bouquet of fresh flowers! My home office is no longer bare, but bright and lovely! There is something about fresh flowers that livens up a spot (and my mood!)
Do you work at home? How do you make your home office a place you want to be? In what ways do you brighten up a place in your own home?
