Love to Write?

Do you love to write? Have you considered using your passion for writing to blog, write for a magazine, or even pen a book? Then you’ll want to consider attending the upcoming “Catholic Writers’ Conference LIVE” August 4-6 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. I’m so happy to be a speaker and panelist at this event, but most of all I’m thrilled that I’m going to have the opportunity to meet and hear from some of my favorite authors and bloggers in person! Folks like Mark Shea, Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle and Susie Lloyd will be speaking, and several publishers (including our own Circle Press!) will be on hand to hear pitches and share tips and techniques.
I remember the very first Writers’ Conference I attended, about five years ago at Thomas Aquinas College. I had this fearful feeling that the “real writers” at the event would discover me for the imposter I was - someone who had never actually published a single paragraph outside of my own website. It turned out that all of my fears were baseless - I was welcomed with open arms, encouraged by everyone I met, educated in my craft, and inspired to go out and use my new found knowledge. I look back on that event as a turning point in my life. My attendance at the conference convinced me that I too could become a “real writer” - in fact that my desire to write was the only prerequisite necessary to call myself a writer!
The conference is open to students, who can attend for the very inexpensive price of only $42. Registration costs $85 for CWG members, $95 for non-members. To register or for more information, go to http://www.catholicwritersconference.com.
Do you love to write? Are you like me, with ideas for the “greatest novel ever” floating around in your head at all times? What are some of your favorite writing themes? What inspires you? What blocks you? What are your dreams for your writing?
