Please share the results of your request for comments. I am a newly hired D.R.E. (new title: Director of Lifelong Faith Formation) in Florida and we recently had a diocesan meeting with a speaker from Wisconsin discussing this very thing. In our diocese, the policy is that no one can be denied the sacraments regardless of the fact that they (particularly children) have not attended all the sacramental preparation that was required (especially since this is usually the parent who didn’t comply). I struggle with this. Last year we implemented “mandatory” parental sacramental preparation for ALL the children’s sacraments. Still, not everyone attended.

This week on the Faith & Family Live Cast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Sarah, Elizabeth and I take on two weighty topics. In our first segment, we revisit Rebecca’s recent post on working moms has prompted a lot of conversation on the blog. We each share from our own experiences on the topics of work, balance and keeping everything on track with so many competing priorities.
This week’s Faith & Family Feature Product is the movie “There Be Dragons”. Check out my recent review here and share your thoughts if you’ve seen the movie.
In our final segment, we revisit the recent topic of Mass verification to receive sacraments, sharing our own experiences and discussing the many perspectives that have appeared here on the blog. For those who have given thought to this subject, we’d love your feedback on the following questions: When there is a disconnect between parents and children enrolled in religious ed programs, what is the most charitable way to respond? How can we as individuals make the Faith more welcoming and inviting to Catholics who have fallen away?
We would love to have your feedback. You can call and leave us a message on our listener feedback line at 1-413-FAITH-55 (or 1-413-324-8455). Leave us a comment, ask a question, make a suggestion or share your thoughts on this or other podcasts we’ve shared. We’d love to hear from you!
