My New Habit

Have you heard the news?

Well, what do you know? Amazon.com just entered the flash sale fray with their new site: MyHabit.com!

According to the press release, MYHABIT.com offers up to 60% off what it calls “hand-picked selections” from “sought-after brands.”

For those of us who are trying to reconcile our love of fashion with our tight budgets, this could be a very cool thing, indeed.

Amazon’s MYHABIT.com will feature daily sales that last 72 hours starting at 12 pm EST each day on women’s, men’s and children’s clothing. Eager shoppers must make their purchases before the clock — or the quantity — runs out. I was delighted to discover that membership, shipping, and even the returns are free (though it does sound like many, if not all, returns are for credit-only).

The presentation is pretty impressive, too. It’s like attending your own personal fashion show! The model isn’t a static photo—she moves! As she turns around, the shopper gets a complete view of the clothing—from the front, side and the back! For added perspective, the model’s dimensions are given. I love that!

So, shop away, bargain-hunters! Let me know if you walk away with anything amazing!

How timely—I just got an email about this today (I frequent Amazon for books all the time) but I hastily deleted it….I might just have to go move it back and and check it out smile
thanks for the tip!

I have had concerns about these sorts of deals—see this blog post that has been circulated: http://posiescafe.com/wp/?p=316, about a cafe that lost a lot of money while a similar flash deals website profited.  Don’t get me wrong—I love deal shopping, and if a company agrees to participate in these deals, they should bear their share of the responsibility—but it’s something to consider.  Who is really profiting, the local businesses, or the big deal brokers?  I’m interested in looking into this, but I thought I’d raise the point.
