Operator?

My sister Maryan called me today to find out what the plan was for Thanksgiving. Being the go-to person at Faith & Family, you’d think I would have the same role in my family, but not so much. This is pretty much how the conversation went:
Maryan: What is the plan for this week?
Me: Thanksgiving at Mom’s.
Maryan: Thanks Mr. Obvious ... Is mom having dinner Wednesday night?
Me: Maybe.
Maryan: Is Marcia hosting breakfast Thanksgiving morning?
Me: Probably.
Maryan: Are the McCormacks going to the Bronx?
Me: Hmm, I don’t know. Wow, I’ve been a wealth of knowledge this conversation.
Every time someone from the family comes home for Thanksgiving or Christmas it seems like there should be an official “Lee Family Itinerary” posted online. With this magical tool, I could answer all of Maryan’s inquiries and even decide to host family dinner. Just a little tap of the keyboard and bing! everyone is instantly informed. Instead, I play a little game of phone tag:
Ring … Ring … Ring … Hi, you’ve reached the Bonos …
“Hey, Marcia this is Robyn. I’m hosting dinner on Wednesday. Hope you can come.”
Ring ...
Me: Hello?
Mom: Marcia is having Thanksgiving breakfast.
Me: Great. I was thinking about having dinner Wednesday night. Can you come?
Mom: That would be great.
Ring ...
Marcia: Hey Rob. I am hosting Thanksgiving breakfast.
Me: I just heard from mom …
Ring ...
Alison: Hey Rob. I heard you are hosting Wednesday dinner. Is Marcia having Thanksgiving breakfast?
There is bound to be some sort of miscommunication in our family because there are just. so. many. people. And the truth is, sometimes people are forgotten. I remember my brother’s response about the announcement of my cousin’s baby: “I didn’t even know she was pregnant!”
Wouldn’t the official “Lee Family Itinerary” solve all our family miscommunications? Maybe, but then I wouldn’t have the pleasure of talking to my sisters all morning long.
So, how do you keep your extended family in the loop?
