Patron Saints and Fall Feasts

On this week’s podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Danielle and I discuss some of our “go to” patron saints, including St. Therese and St. Anne.
Who are some of the saints with whom you have a special intercessory relationship? Does St Anthony find your keys? Does St Jude make the car start when it’s been stalling? Do you have a saint you call on during pregnancy and labor and/or nursing woes? How do you encourage your kids to think of the saints as their real sources of help in heaven?
Our good friend Sarah Reinhard calls in with her thoughts on Autumn and a great Rosary Resource contest going on over at CatholicMom.com - be sure to enter for your chance to win!
Our Faith & Family Feature Product for this week is Mammograms! With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage you to seek regular health checkups, including frequent screening for early detection of breast cancer. This includes annual mammograms for women over forty or with an increased risk of cancer, and monthly breast self exams.
Now that it’s Fall, we are enjoying a bevy of fun family activities. Danielle’s family recently hosted their annual Oktoberfest and shares her thoughts about organizing a fall party, ideas for cheap but fun activities kids can do outdoors this time of year. Carving pumpkins is fun for all ages, a scavenger hunt is an easy, low cost way to occupy a large group of children, a bon fire is a thrilling, low cost way to enjoy the outdoors with a group of friends. We also discuss the importance of opening our hearts and homes to our children’s friends. Are you the “hang out house”? Do you enjoy hosting Fall activities? What are some of your party or event planning recommendations?
