I love them Arwen! It looks like such a fun project. I’ve been thinking about making bean bags for my kids at some point. Now I’m not sure, perhaps these would be better.
Also, I love Blaise’s Thomas shirt. My son (3) is a big Thomas fan and only wanted to wear Thomas shirts (he has 2). The problem is they are both short-sleeved and it is cold. I couldn’t find any sweatshirts at the time (although I just saw one at Walmart yesterday, but not in my son’s size). So, I found some fabric and put Thomas on a cheap sweatshirt. Perfect! He loves them. Yeah for DIY projects! Blessings to you and your growing family.
Pillow Up!

I had a bright idea this Christmas: kid-sized easy chairs for my little ones to relax in. They’d love it!
Then I saw the prices on those things. Yowza! They were not in the budget this Christmas.
The Internet came to the rescue when my friend Emily posted about homemade pillow mattresses in early December. I don’t sew, but my sister does, and she generously agreed to help me.
I picked up the supplies - four basic pillows and one twin-sized jersey knit flat sheet - for about $30 per mattress, and I’m sure bargain-hunters could find them for less. I helped with some folding and measuring and marking, my sister did all the sewing on her machine, and we finished two pillow mattresses in under three hours. If you didn’t have two babies and a toddler around like we did, you could probably do it even faster.
The tutorial to which Emily linked was very helpful, and I’m pleased with the end product. These are not mattresses you could sleep on, and they’re not works of art, but for kids to lug around and fold into various shapes? I’m happy with them.
On Christmas morning, Blaise and Camilla were pretty happy too. See that picture?
My kids are lounging in comfort for 1/3 the cost of kid-sized easy furniture. I’m calling it a Christmas success.

This is giving me ideas…(danger!)... I need something machine washable due to dust mite allergies. I am thinking that I can do this too, but instead of a seam, installing velcro for easy cover removal. Then everything can get tossed in the machine & cleaned! Sweet!
Wow. Camilla and Blaise are getting so big! The mattresses are cute, too.
