A saintly girl she is, indeed! And lovely.
Playing the Part

Here is Gabby modeling the St. Rose of Lima costume she wore to a party over the weekend.
It was her idea to pose so sanctimoniously.
“Um, why don’t you just look at me and smile?” I suggested.
“Because I am a saint!” she rolled her eyes before resuming her holy posture.
Did you know that St. Rose cut off all her hair in order to avoid vanity? Did you know that she wore a crown of roses in order to conceal a crown of spikes she wore as a penance?
Yeah, Gabby didn’t want to hear about that stuff either.

that is so great! My daughter went to a parish halloween party. The Priest asked her what she was and she told him she was a princess. He told her she could be Elizabeth of Hungary. Later in the car, my husband & I were asking her what the Priest told her. She said “He said I was a Princess of food. Because I was from Hungary.” lol =)
I love that Gabby didn’t care to hear the “ugly” side of sainthood. I had a book of saints when I was little that I loved looking at the pictures in. I would ask my parents to read it to me and I realize now some of what they read to me was “edited for content” because it was rather graphic for a five-year-old!
I found the book again in their home after my daughter was born. My daughter was originally due on the feast day of Blessed Kateri of Tekawitha and we had considered naming her after Kateri but she came a week early and I wasn’t sure I which saint’s feast day her birthday fell on, so I looked it up. My daughter was born on the feast day of St. Maria Goretti. After reading in detail, I plan on teaching my daughter in these young years about St Maria Goretti’s faith and devotion to God. We’ll address the circumstances of her marytrdom when my daughter’s a bit older.
