Please Pray for Jonah's Mom

In today’s Coffee Talk discussion, a mom named Ashley shared a link to her heartbreaking story of the unexpected death of her infant son Jonah last week.

I know the faithful community of moms here will not fail to hold this family—and especially his mom Ashley—in prayer during this time of mourning. Jonah is in good hands, but his grieving family needs our love and support.

“I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord.”
—Psalm 121

I will pray for this family. It is so sad. We will pray…

Ashley, I am so, so sorry for the loss of your sweet Jonah.  It is truly heaven’s gain, but little comfort I’m sure.  I pray that our mother Mary, who herself gave up a Son according to God’s will, holds you tightly as you walk this journey.

Ashley,

May God wrap you in his arms and you feel the peace of his love in your soul.
I am so sorry for your loss.  I am crying with you.

You will be on my thoughts and mind tomorrow, above all in my prayers.

Thank you for highlighting this for people who might not have seen the Coffee Talk thread today.

Ashley, my heart goes out to you.

May God hold you and your family in the Palm of His hand as you learn how to live without Jonah in your physical lives.  REJOICE, though, as Jonah has had his day of GLORY!  Jonah has seen the face of God & is now being cuddled & loved by our Blessed Mother and all the angels. PEACE BE with you!

Dear Ashley,
Blessed was Jonah to have the love of you as his mother, and blessed is he still to have your love. Ask your precious child to pray for you & your family.

O Lord, Jesus Chris, Our God, You promised to grant the kingdom of heaven to those born of water and the Spirit, who came to You in innocence, for You said: “Let the children come to Me, for such is the kingdom of heaven.” We humbly beseech You to grant to Your servant, the innocent child Jonah, who has departed from us, the inheritance of Your kingdom according to Your truthful promise.  Grant that we also live in innocence, and, attaining a Christian end of our lives, may dwell with all the saints in Your heavenly court.  For You are the resurrection, the life, and the repose of all Your servants, and of your departed servant, Jonah, O Christ, Our God, and we glorify You +, together with Your eternal Father, and Your all-holy, gracious, and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and forever.  Amen.

I hope and pray that all of your practical tangible needs along with spiritual and emotional needs are met.  Praying that you and your family can be surrounded by love and compassion during this difficult time of grief.

I’m so sorry for your loss.  I will pray for your family.

Grace and peace and prayers to you.  Thank you for sharing your story here.  It brought tears to my eyes and made me give my kids some extra hugs.  I will be offering up some sacrifices for your family this week.

Praying for you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I will be praying for you during this difficult time.

I hope and pray that all of your practical tangible needs along with spiritual and emotional needs are met.  Praying that you and your family can be surrounded by love and compassion during this difficult time of grief.

Oh sweet, sweet Jesus, hold his mother and family in your arms.

Ashley, I am so, so sorry Jonah died. A mother’s absolute worst nightmare—I am so sorry this happened to him and to you.

I have four children as well, the last being a little boy of 18 months. I would be devastated if Eddie was taken from me. I can’t even imagine how you are coping.

Please know many people around the world are praying for you all. My heartfelt condolences.

PS. This was not your fault. You were doing what medical professionals recommended to protect Jonah. I know one stranger on the Internet is not going to erase any feelings of guilt you may have—but I wanted to say it anyway. You need to hear it. This was not your fault.

Ashley, you and your family will be in my prayers…maybe Mama Mary and the whole heavenly host surround you with comfort and love and peace. Thank you for being brave enough to share Jonah with all of us and for letting us encircle you in the warmth of our prayers and support, which feels like so little in the face of your loss.

Ashley, My condolences. I’ll be praying… ~J

Ashley
Please know you are in the thoughts& prayers of myself & my family during this time of such sadness. Our Lord keep you all close to His Sacred Heart & cover you with His Precious Blood of protection.  And remember that Our Blessed Mother is holding your beloved Jonah in her Loving Arms. God Bless

Thank you all. I am in tears and so moved by the support from you all. We are just reeling with sadness and I truly believe that prayers are what is getting us through. I just miss him so much. I will update on my blog when we get the results of his autopsy. If there is any way to prevent this from happening to another famiy I want to do so. Thanking God for your prayers. If you want to mentionn us by name we are Ashley, Justin, Melody, Lila and Isaac. Again, thank you for your kind words.

Ashley, I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the results, and that they give you some answers, peace and closure.  I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Prayers for you and your family. My heart aches for you all.

Ashley,
We are all crying with you. I can only pray that “the peace of Christ that surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.” I think of the saints who also lost their children (like St. Elizabeth Ann Seton), and I pray that they will be powerful intercessors for you and your family. And, I’m thinking that your sweet Jonah is right now asking his mother in heaven to pray for his mother on earth. God Bless you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

God Bless You and your family.  Why?!!  We all wonder that but only God has the wisdom.  He also has the strength to carry you, comfort you and heal you—which is what I will be praying for through my own tears.  Perhaps we may never know the answers to why you had to suffer this loss but somehow remember to treasure the knowledge that you were chosen to mother this precious soul whose earthly presence was so short—-but so powerful and meaningful that his short life has touched so many of us.  He will never be forgotten.  Jonah just graduated from this phase of life much faster than the rest of us….my prayers and thoughts will be with you for many days to come.

Prayed for you at the Elizabeth Ministry Mass at my parish tonight, and will continue to hold you in prayer.

I have been reading this last week when you first requested prayers at Coffee Talk, and I have thought of your family often.

I am so sorry, and I will continue to pray for you all, and may God hold Jonah and you all in the palm of his hand.
From, Donna L.

My heart aches so after reading your story.  I will be lifting you and your family up in prayer.  May you find some comfort in this difficult time.

I’m so sorry for Ashley’s family’s loss.  I will pray for them and for Jonah.

I’ve been praying for you, Ashley.  I am so sorry for the loss of your precious little Jonah.

Ashley, my prayers are with you and your family. My heart aches for you. May you find comfort and be lifted up through the prayers of many. St. Jonah, pray for us.

So sorry for your loss; we’ve been praying for you since you first posted and we’ll continue to do so.  When my 2 and 4 y-o wake up in the night (as they *always* do), I’ve been sending up a prayer for you at those times too.  Just wanted you to know, so if you’re awake and feeling totally alone in the night, you’re getting prayers then too.
