Expanding Political Labels

Are you tired of the limiting labels of “Democrat” and “Republican” this election season? Do you feel like neither of these terms describes you exactly?
Then maybe you should try out this political test that I recently found to be enlightening.
Using a series of questions about a variety of topics, it helps you look beyond the simple labels of “Democrat” and “Republican” and see where you might fall on a broader political spectrum. After taking the test (it’s about 4 pages, I think) you can see your results according to famous people who are similar to you or political ideologies that most closely mirror your views.
The test told me that I am a social conservative and an economic moderate which makes me a “centrist.” In fact, according to my results, I am closer to a being a “totalitarian” than a Democrat or Republican. Thankfully, it stopped short of calling me a Nazi. But doesn’t every mother have a bit of totalitarian in her?
I know this is just one test and it may or may not succeed in giving an accurate prediction of any one person’s true political views, but I did find it thought-provoking. We Americans do sometimes use words like “libertarian” or “independent” to describe political views, but for the most part we try our hardest to fit everyone neatly into Republican and Democrat boxes. Maybe we are limiting our political conversations and broader labels would be more conducive to compromise and achieving justice.
Maybe I am just rambling here.
Will you take the test? Tell me how you score and what you think of your results.
