Praying Together

Do you say a family rosary? Is it daily, weekly?
I want to give a brief testimony to anyone struggling with this concept: it’s worth the effort.
I almost used the word “pain” instead of “effort,” because there are plenty of times when gathering the brood to say the rosary can be epic. We pray every day as a family, but there are many days when we adjust the depth and scope of our gathering to fit our schedule (and also to include the toddler). There are seasons when a daily family rosary seems out of the question, no matter how hard we try.
Lately, though, I’ve been having a desire to start back saying the rosary as often as possible. I have recently been asking for a little guidance from the Holy Spirit, for the wisdom and ability to peacefully gather as a family to pray. And things have been wonderful! Even our three-year-old has managed to enter in, buoyed by the promise of extinguishing the candle if he has good (appropriate) behavior.
I have pushed to make rosary time work, and already the graces on our family are incredible. (Also—it really doesn’t take that long!)
So this evening I offer encouragement to those out there who have a desire to pray the rosary as a family—you too can be a rosary-praying family! Ask the Holy Spirit to help you make that happen, and you will be surprised by how quickly those prayers are answered.
