Recording a New Life

With all of the excitement over Arwen’s recent announcement and our continual joy over her pregnancy, I was reminded of a special resource for expectant Catholic moms.
My Special Baby Book is the perfect gift for friends like Arwen who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of precious little ones. Published by Pauline Kids, this uniquely Catholic baby book was illustrated by Italian artist Maria Cristina Lo Cascio.
From the outside, the beautiful padded cover of this baby book may look like others you’ve seen, but on the inside you’ll find the special details that make it the perfect choice for Catholic families.
Along with the normal details in a baby’s life, this book leaves room to document such special events as “The date of my first visit to church” and “The name of the celebrant”. Special pages help Mom document baby’s first Christmas, Easter, and of course his Baptism.
The book is chock full of scripture quotations, lovely prayers, and inspirational quotations. It offers many big, open pages for scrapbooking and special spots for “prenatal scan” ultrasound photos and baby’s first hand print. The artist’s illustrations whimsically grace the pages in soft, water color fashion.
The following prayer, taken from one of the early pages in the book, typifies why this is a great selection for any Catholic mom who is preparing to celebrate new life:
Heavenly Father, creator of all that is good,
this new baby fill us with wonder and awe.
Thank you for giving us this precious new life to nurture and protect.
Give us strength, through all the joys and struggles ahead,
to love and care for our new baby, this special gift from you.
