Saints, Feasting and Fasting

This week on the podcast (click here to listen or click on the player above), Sarah and Rebecca are joined by Jennifer Fulwiler of Conversion Diary. This week, we celebrate the feasts of St. Patrick and St. Joseph. Sarah recently shared a sweet reflection about St. Joseph, in light of being a mom of boys. How about you? Does your family celebrate these saints in any special ways? St. Joseph seems to be every Catholic’s go-to saint, especially for families, and pretty much everyone has a St. Joseph story to share—what’s yours? In what fun ways to you celebrate Irish traditions on St. Patrick’s Day?
Our Faith & Family Feature Product this week is the Precious Life hair bow that I linked to at Faith & Family Live. These adorable hair bows feature precious feet pins and 50% of the sales of these goes to support pro-life causes. What a sweet idea for a little girl’s First Communion or Easter basket! Check out the rest of the Hair Bows for Life site while you are there. 10% of all sales always goes to support pro-life charities. They have cute hair clips and bows and all kinds of accessories for the little girls in your life.
In our final segment, we look at the interesting topic of feasting and fasting brought up by Rebecca this week on the blog. On which side of this Great Lenten Debate do you fall? Does your family take a break from penances on Sundays during Lent or do you consider that wimping out? What are you and your family doing for Lent this year? What special challenges might you be facing? What are your goals for this Lenten season? How do you help kids (and spouses) to take Lent seriously without becoming a dictator in your own home?
