Slow Cooking with Style

Here in Fresno, California, the weather forecast for the next several days calls for temperatures in the high 80’s and low 90’s, which doesn’t exactly feel like “sweater weather”.
But despite the heat, I’m trying to find crock pot recipes that will please my family and ease my “to do” list, all in one fell swoop. With all of the evening rehearsals, practices, meetings and more, it can become a true challenge to try to pull off dinner several nights a week.
I’ve fallen into one of those phases where the question, “What’s for dinner Mom?” drives me a little crazy. The main problem is that I’m bored with all of our usual meals and need to expand my horizons. Throwing things into the crock pot seems relatively easy and often healthier than some of the other “quick fix” alternatives.
So I’m turning to you, our wonderful readers, for a replenishment of my tired old crock pot cooking repertoire.
I realize that I could turn to any number of online recipe sites to find ideas, but there’s something wonderful about having recipes that come from family or girlfriends. For one thing, most friend-recommended recipes won’t send me to the market for ingredients I’ve never heard of and can’t pronounce! Also, knowing that recipes come from real, live families somehow makes them feel less intimidating.
I’d love it if you could spare five minutes to share your favorite slow cooker recipe in the comments below. If you don’t have a recipe and can just share tips about fall menu items that are hearty and relatively easy to cook, I’d love those too! I’ll start off by sharing a recipe I found today and hope that a few of you can offer some culinary inspiration too!
