Small Steps, Big Benefits
Posted by Danielle Bean in Family on Thursday, October 15, 2009 6:00 AM
It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that.
To participate, just write up a list of 3 of your recent Small Successes and post it on your blog along with the Small Successes button (go here to get the code). You are not required to use the button, but please do link back to the main post here. Then you can add your blog here using the Mr. Linky form (please link to the individual blog post, not the home page of your blog).
If you don’t have a blog, you can share your Small Successes in the comments.
To get us started, here are my small successes for this week:
1. I made homemade pizza for my family yesterday. Dinner was ready by mid-afternoon—everyone was full and happy by bedtime, despite riding and soccer practice.
2. I spent two glorious hours alone in a library on Tuesday. No interruptions—lots of work accomplished.
3. I FOUND MY LOST-FOREVER BOOK! Well, Eamon did, but I returned it. Congratulate me. I am basking in the library’s good graces once again.
Now it’s your turn. Share all of your small but significant accomplishments for the week.

Love that lost forever book find Danielle!
My accomplishments this week:
1. I signed up for the Nanowrito or whatever it’s called. (sorry, it’s too early to remember the correct name) 50,000 words in 30 days here I come!
2. I remembered it is a dress down day today at school : )
3. I have not lost my cool with my slow poke 16 year old all week.
I am sorry to report my husband has not done the same right at the present moment. He has just had another anxiety attack over the 16 year old not being ready when his ride comes. I am cool as a cucumber however. ; )
1. I have not eaten an eighth grader, yet, this week. (Neither one of my own, nor any students!)
2. I have not screamed at any of the aforementioned.
3. I have shown up at work with a smile, and tried to arrive home with a smile.
4. Arrived early at work to assist 16 students with a lab makeup, only have none of them show; attended 1 faculty meeting, 1 collaboration meeting, 4 team meetings,4 soccer trainings, 1 viola lesson and 1 piano lesson.
One of those weeks.. . .I have almost made it to the end!
1. When my children started getting a disease that involved goopy eyes, stuffy noses, fevers, ear pain and grumpiness, in true Whack-A-Mole fashion, I did not flip out. I also didn’t catch the conjunctivitis by sheer denial.
2. I accomplished our semi-annual clothes swap for the children in one weekend. This usually takes me at least two weeks!
3. In one day, I made a huge batch of waffles, with homemade yogurt, did a full day of homeschooling, took all children with me to the mall and other stores, totalling 4, to get clothes to “fill in the blanks”, caught some huge sales, and took everyone to confession. I even had dinner on the table at a decent hour that night. Hooray!
