Small Stuff, Big Difference

Small Successes vol. 59

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that.

To participate, just write up a list of 3 of your recent Small Successes and post it on your blog along with the Small Successes button (go here to get the code). You are not required to use the button, but please do link back to the main post here. Then you can add your blog here using the Mr. Linky form (please link to the individual blog post, not the home page of your blog).

If you don’t have a blog, you can share your Small Successes in the comments.

To get us started, here are my small successes for this week:

1. I thought about doing a thorough clear-out in my bedroom where an astonishing amount of random stuff has collected on the floor and bureau.

(Hmmm, thought about? I can tell already this is going to be an embarrassing list.)

2. Yesterday, I retraced my route from Tuesday afternoon driving-around and found (!!!) the hubcap that fell off the van on an especially bumpy road.

3. I put my neurotic to-do list aside and had a super-fun day with my younger brother when he announced an impromptu visit earlier this week.

Ta da! I rock! Now please share all of your successes for this week—I really do love reading them.

AWESOME List Danielle. I’m glad I sometimes can share the “thought about” successes wither others lol!!

You DO rock Danielle…for ALL great successes must begin with “A THOUGHT”, LOL!

1. Got all the humidifiers dismantled and ready for cleaning.
2. Baked banana bread with the disgusting black bananas on the counter.
3. Got the shamrock cookies baked and decorated in time for the cub scout meeting.

Haven’t done this in a while, but feel it might be time:
1.) Invited parents of a new friend of my daughter’s for dinner on Saturday. The first people we will have over in our new place, I used to entertain all the time, and it is getting more difficult that all of my friends live 300 miles away, hopefully this can be the start of a new local friendship.

2.) Convinced DD to donate 5 boxes of toys she hasn’t opened in 6 months (since the move), I consider this my success b/c I agreed to buy her an ipod in exchange for the toys and I was really against her having an ipod when I don’t even have one…

3.) As part of 40 bags… I’ve decluttered Master Bedroom Closet, Hall closet, 2 Foyer closets, Home office and lots of toys. Lots of stuff that got “stuffed” into whatever available space was there as I was unpacking are finding real homes, and our house is becoming more of a home for us.

Hi
Great list!  I’m sorry, the wrong link seems to have gone into the Mister Linky ~ feel free to delete if you would prefer.  Again, sorry.

This week I made some small improvements in my kids’ playroom.  (Our playroom is really supposed to be the formal dining room, but since we don’t own a dining room set, we’ve always used it as a playroom and it’s very handy to have there right next to the kitchen.)  We’ve lived in our house for just about 5 years and I’ve always disliked the the American Southwest/Native American-themed wallpaper border that the previous owner put up in there, but I’ve always been too intimidated to take it down.  But I found out this week that with a bucket of hot water, a sponge, a plastic putty knife and some elbow grease that it comes down without making a mess of the wall or paint underneath.  I have two walls done so far.  I also took down the roll-up blind that was in there and hasn’t been functional for probably 3 or more years and bought some cheery polka-dot fabric to make cafe curtains from.  I am getting excited about how cute it will be in there when I’m finished!

You DO rock!  Good job!

Ooops!  I’m new to this Mister Linky thing, and I think I did it wrong.  I’ll see if I can get it figured out.

Small Success number one:  Tried something new online.
Small Success number two:  Humbly admitted I don’t know what I’m doing! raspberry

Danielle, I adore you!!  I love y our list this week!! Here’s mine.
1.  I am actually GOING on my retreat this weekend. It was scheduled 2 weeks ago, but got snowed out.
2.  I am all packed for my retreat this morning, so I can leave on time, when I get home from work.
3.  I told the 16 year old not to call me this weekend. His father is in charge. : )  I’m turning my phone off all day tomorrow and Sunday morning.

St Anthony must have been watching out for your hubcap! way to go!

1.  Made Irish Soda Bread which no one liked except me, daddy and the littlest Lamb.
2.  I did watch some NCAA basketball.
3.  We had Fun Friday and relished in it at the park with some friends and at the library.
