Small Successes (3)

What did you get right this week?

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we’ll do exactly that.

To participate, just write up a list of 3 of your recent Small Successes and post it on your blog along with the Small Successes button (go here to get the code). You are not required to use the button, but please do link back to the main post here. Then you can add your blog here using the Mr. Linky form.

If you don’t have a blog, you can share your Small Successes in the comments.

To get us started, here are my Small Successes for this week:

1. I have been doing my weights workout—something I’ve been avoiding for weeks now. It feels good to be getting back into a routine with it. I get off track regularly, but I really am a big believer in weight training for women. I plan to post about it soon.

2. Though I was tempted mightily, I never did once say, “It’s just a game!” to my beloved husband as he obsessed about the Super Bowl. I have my obsessions too and he tolerates them.

3. I changed sheets. Many times in the same night. Different kids, different problems, several different “wake up calls” when at last I thought I could sleep. But I didn’t fight it. I just did it. I do wonder, though, why I would ever change the younger kids’ sheets when it’s not an “emergency”? There is always bound to be one soonish.

Okay. Now your turn. I can’t wait to read them!

I apologize for typing in my stuff twice.  The first one is a link to the main blog and the second one is a link to my small successes post.

Danielle, your 3rd success just cracks me up…and makes me feel better about my not-changing-sheets-as-often-as-Mom-would.  smile  Thanks again for keeping this wonderful exercise going!

1.  I just mened my son’s school sweatshirt as best I could—again, wish I could sew!
2.  took the kids to the grocery store before school (which meant leaving 30 minutes earlier!) to take a gift to the old man who sweeps the floors—it’s his 80-something birthday.  He was so surprised!
3.  started praying the rosary aloud (again) in the van when I run errands, take kids to school, etc.  We can get through a whole rosary with no problem!  It is a good habit I fell out of when the baby was born in November.  So glad those “old habits” are coming back—-the transition is almost over!

Love this!

1.  I actually started the day with a “to do” list, and I only put 8 things on the list…..and one of them is “dinner” so I will at least have one thing to cross off at the end of the day:)
2.  I actually put AWAY some laundry…OK, it was beginning to tumble to the floor of my bedroom and I was fearing I was going to have to re-wash it.  Bonus will be not having to fish for matching socks tommorrow!
3. Have been living out of the pantry and freezer ALL week. I have been trying to save money by no extra trips to the grocery store, so when I have ran out, I simply improvise.  Leftover sausage rolls from the Superbowl became garlic bread last night.

1. I made a to-do list last night and have already checked several things off of it!
2. I have managed to properly SHARE responsibilities with others in the family and at church/scouts so others can help me. (I have a bad tendency to feel like I have to do it all myself.)
3. I found an appropriate and pretty First Communion dress for my daughter (shoulders covered!) at a good discount!

This might just give me enough support to get through more of the to-do list and this busy weekend!

Small success #1
Preparing my lessons for the three days I was taking off for my surgery ahead of time.
#2 Not having a hissy fit when I got to the doctor’s office this morning to have my surgery and finding out he couldn’t do it because of a slight case of phlebitis around the area he was going to laser.
#3 Realizing that God is in control at all times.

1. I have started excercising again. Here’s to a healthier me.

2. I have kept my mouth shut about the “some new theory” math homework ds 8 has been bringing home and just doing it.

3. Shoveling snow out of our very.long. driveway was a chance to offer it up instead of having a pity party.

Such a nice pick-me-up for moms!

Although I didn’t blog my 3 successes this week, it has been a VERY successful week! (of course, you can always read my blog for past successes smile

1.  Have been steady on my workouts this week, different one each day!

2.  Made it to Adoration today.

3.  Re-learning the states/capitals/abbreviations with ds (11)—-you home school moms are the BOMB!!!!  I always say if I could afford it, I would, but after this week, I am not so sure!!!  God Bless!
