Some News From Faith & Family

We're up to the challenge of challenging times

The economy has hit many of us hard, and we here at Faith & Family are no exception. These are challenging times for the publishing industry.

In an effort to control our costs and meet our readers’ changing needs, we have made the decision to reduce the number of print issues of Faith & Family magazine we publish from 6 issues per year to 4 issues per year (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) beginning in 2010.

If you are a current subscriber to the magazine, please understand that when you paid for your subscription, you paid for 6 issues and your subscription will run out only when you have received all 6 issues, not at the end of a year.

Though this decision has been prompted by financial difficulty, we believe it is ultimately a positive change in keeping with our shifting culture. As more and more readers get their news, information, and entertainment online, making the move toward fewer print editions and more online content is a positive step toward meeting the needs of modern Catholic families.

One unfortunate consequence of our difficulties with keeping up with printing and shipping costs, however, is that the next two issues of Faith & Family magazine have been delayed. The September/October 2009 issue is expected to be in readers’ mailboxes by October 7 and the November/December 2009 issue is expected to arrive November 27.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are doing all that we can to ensure that this problem is not repeated. Subscriptions and ad revenue from our print edition are the income stream that makes it possible for us to provide the free online content that reaches Catholic families and provides the faith support and practical encouragement so many of us need. We recognize that many of you manage tight budgets as well and greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time of our transition.

We remain committed to meeting the needs of Catholic families both in print and online—and anywhere else the future takes us. Faith & Family is a small and struggling non-profit organization with a skeleton staff of deeply dedicated employees. We are committed to our mission of serving Catholic families and bringing them closer to Christ, but we can’t do it without you.

If you appreciate what we do, you can help support Faith & Family and ensure that our work continues by subscribing to the magazine or making a donation. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, I will be happy to take them in the comments or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

We truly value our readers and subscribers. Thank you for all you do to support the vital work of Faith & Family!
