Spend a Moment with Mary

In my email this morning was a special gift for the occasion of the Assumption of Mary. In big letters, the email asked me, “Do you have one minute?” Today is a busy day, with the normal Monday schedule, Mass for the Feast of the Assumption, a dentist appointment for one teen, high school orientation and much more—but I decided I DID have one minute and clicked over to check out www.MarianMinute.org.
What greeted me on the site was a simple image of the Blessed Mother and a countdown clock, a reminder not to touch the keyboard and the words of the “Hail Mary”. I found myself instantly calmed and able to focus my mind on spending a few moments with Mary. It’s kind of sad that I needed an artificial timer and a computer interface to remind me that when I’m feeling overwhelmed, she is always waiting to hold my hand and take me to her son. Websites like MaryMinute.org are a great reminder that prayer can happen at any time, in any place and that the value of even one minute should never be wasted.
How about you? Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed by your to do list this week? Does the impending start of the school year have you feeling frantic? Why not take some extra time in prayer today to help keep things in their proper perspective? What prayer aids help you to settle your thoughts and mind when life seems to be spinning out of control?
