Sweet Scraps

Today, I went to my post office box and was greeted by the most wonderful treasure: a real letter from my good friend Dee Fox (the “lovely” wife of Deacon Tom Fox of Catholic Vitamins). The envelope contained true treasures - this handmade card, lovingly pieced by Dee, a very nice note and a photo of the three of us taken recently during a happy visit. The card is truly a work of art, destined for a frame in my office alongside the photo of a very happy memory.
Dee’s gesture made me think about the days of old, when I would have pondered what kind of scrapbook page I could craft to show off both the card and the photo. But these days, I’m a mess when it comes to photo organization. I take more photos than ever, but they are all on my laptop organized by date and event but rarely printed. I can easily find any photo since I’ve entered the digital age, but honestly never print photos unless I’m required to for some sort of school project.
The first several years of my boys lives were beautiful documented in scrapbooks, back in the days when one of my friends was a salesperson for Creative Memories. I still have all the gadgets, stickers and a lot of paper, but it’s probably been almost a decade since I actively scrapped. In my head, I imagine myself spending my “golden years” getting caught up and making lovely books for my boys (or their wives), but I wonder if by then we will instead by handing them hard drives with their childhood archives.
How about you? Do you still scrapbook? Have you gone digital in your archival efforts? Or are you a mess like me?
