Teens and Technology

On this week’s episode of the Faith & Family Live Cast (click here to listen or click on the player above) Danielle, Elizabeth and I take on topics related to teens and technology. During the month of January, Pope Benedict XVI has asked us to join him in praying for the following intention:
That young people may learn to use modern means of social communication for their personal growth and to better prepare themselves to serve society.
In our first segment, we share our family rules for cell phones, texting and Facebook, discussing how technology helps us to connect with our teens. What are your thoughts on the risk that teens who text a great deal will miss out on “real life” forms of communication?
This week’s Faith & Family Feature Product is the March for Life. If you are unable to attend this year’s event in person, be sure to tune in to EWTN for complete coast to coast coverage of this year’s large pro-life events.
In our final segment, we take a look at helping kids to moderate their “screen time”. Danielle shares a creative suggestion for motivating kids to “earn” time on computers, games and more. Elizabeth shares a bit about Mpower, a filtering device that will help parents set individualized viewing standards in their homes.
