Thanksgiving Hostess Gifts

This week our family will celebrate a “different” Thanksgiving. I am in Cambridge for the week with Eric, enjoying time with him and working on my writing project. Greg and Adam are back at home, at work and school.
This is the first time the four of us will be separated for Thanksgiving. We’re not one of those families who always does the same thing every year - we’ve given thanks in a variety of cities and settings with a broad range of different foods. Eric and I have been kindly invited to a dormmate’s home nearby, so we’ll be enjoying the meal with several students and one set of very hospitable parents.
I would like to take something to our hostess, but am in the awkward position of not being near a kitchen, so I cannot bake or cook anything. Also, since we’ll be with so many students, I wonder if it might be inappropriate to take a bottle of wine. I’ve considered flowers, but would also love our readers suggestions on things I might be able to take to offer thanks to the family who has invited us. Had I known beforehand, I would have brought something from home, but now I’m left with something I can get here—within walking distance—on relatively short notice.
Would love your suggestions - what would you enjoy receiving or what are some memorable hostess gifts you’ve shared in the past?
