The Perfect Gift

which one keeps on giving?

Our dear sweet precious amazing daughter turns one this week. Can you believe it? I’m not sure I do!

I would love to hear from those with experience just what gift is the best investment of money (even a small amount of money) for a sweet little one-year-old girl. My goal is to get Isabel a gift that she will enjoy for years to come.

What do you recommend as the perfect gift for a girl turning one? What did your daughter (or niece or granddaughter or goddaughter) love to play with?

I love the wooden kitchen idea. We loved the really high quality, beautiful picture books (fairy tales, classics) for our daughter. She’s now three, and while she couldn’t follow the stories at one she pored over the pictures. Now she’s more of an age to follow the stories as Mama reads. It’s been great to see her develop a sense of beauty and make up stories to go along with the pictures.

How about a handmade dolly! Here is a link to one on my Etsy shop that I’ve made. http://www.etsy.com/listing/70760925/custom-made-to-order-12-in-waldorf-doll
It is made from all natural materials…soft and warm and oh so cute! My one year old daughter loves hers! The 12 inch doll seems to be just the perfect size for her.

Our family friend started giving one pearl to her daughter on all her special days throughout her life.  Special birthdays(first birthday would be cute), dance recital, communion, etc.  The idea being on her 18th birthday she would have a pearl necklace to remember all those special days and a visual reminder of her family’s love for her! Not sure if how to go about it maybe buy a pearl necklace and take apart?

This may help.  My DD was born in October.  I cannot remember what we did for her 1st birthday, but for her 1st and 2nd Christmas we bought her Christmas china.  She has a good start on a very traditional set of Christmas china.  If she doesn’t like it, she can give it to her child.

Does anybody have a particular wooden kitchen set they recommend? I have a daughter turning two next month and I think she would love a toy kitchen.
Thanks,
Jen

We have really enjoyed this one from Constructive Playthings: http://www.cptoy.com/cgi-bin/pf.sh/2.0/product.htm?pf_id=KRP-35L It was affordable, the right size for our small space, and similar to a high-end one sold at Land of Nod. That said, I think this one is adorable if you have the space and the budget: http://www.cptoy.com/cgi-bin/pf.sh/2.0/product.htm?pf_id=KDK-22L
