The Royal Wedding

Do you care?

I’m not setting my alarm for 5 a.m., but I’ll admit that I’m slightly intrigued by the early morning nuptials of Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Are you?

If you tune into the wedding, give us your thoughts. If you think it’s ridiculous, why?

Oh maybe it’s all a big waste of time, but there’s something magical about it all too—all the pomp and circumstance and royalty. (Mostly, I can’t wait to see the dress.)

I am going to watch; I always do. I’m Canadian and he’s slated to become my head of state one day! But I’m a sucker for weddings and romance and love. It should be fun!

Funny; I just blogged about this.  Yes, I’m definitely in (though I’ll be DVR’ing instead of watching it live).  Much of my interest relates to the fact that I remember watching the wedding of Will’s parents.  It is an interesting full-circle moment for me and, I hope, a chance for the happy ending that eluded Charles and Di.

I won’t watch but will grab the People magazine next time I am in the dentists office or getting my hair cut.
I will, however, watch the coverage of John Paul II on May 1!

I don’t plan to watch it live, but I promised my toddler that we’d look at pictures of the prince and princess on the internet tomorrow. I’m an organist so I probably OUGHT to watch it at some point as continuing education smile

Good Morning!  A spot of tea anyone?  : )    I am watching!  This is part of history and my family’s heritage.  My great great grandmother, Lady Molloy was a Lady in Waiting for Queen Victoria, so I think I should have been invited, don’t you think?

All I wanted to see was the dress. I googled it when I got up this morning. very elegant, very Grace Kelly. Maybe she will set the trend and more modest wedding gowns will become the new style.

You’re right, Rachel - it is so, so magical. They are a beautiful couple, and I pray that they are blessed and sanctified throughout their marriage.

Also… what a gorgeous dress! Between Kate Middleton and Ivanka Trump, maybe we’ll finally see an end to the strapless wedding dress trend!

I got up at 4 a.m. to watch live, and then watched again at a viewing party (complete with scones) later in the morning (and later posted 7 Quick Takes on my impressions).  I enjoy the pomp and pageantry; I deeply admire how hard-working and good-intentioned Her Majesty is; and I’m a little jealous that we in the States don’t have something equally as unifying.

I have watched the crowd and the ceremony. what is special is the thought in me ” How a progressive people can have such craze to gather to see two people getting married.  How can they stillhave royalty though they are democratic nation.  Also consider the lavish expense and the ordinary citizens who cant afford much of luxury.

We DVRed and watched it with our boys last night.  Both my husband and I thought the homily was very good.  The reading also was excellent.  I don’t normally think of Romans 12 for weddings, but it was very appropriate for the royal couple in their wedded vocation.  We thought the whole service was very Christ-centered.  Our boys liked the parade.  grin

BTW, according to the commentators, the royal family footed the bill for the entire event, except for security.  And I’ll bet it brought plenty of tourist dollars into GB.

I am part British from way back (think Middle Ages here) so I suppose this is part of my family history as well. My maternal grandmother did look like the late Queen Mother…on a bad day.
