Toy Story 3: Did You Cry?

***Spoiler Alert!*** If you haven’t seen Toy Story 3 yet and want to avoid hearing about details of the plot, I cannot guarantee that this post will be safe reading for you.***
I took a group of boys to see the newly-released Toy Story 3 over the weekend. The big boys opted to sit by themselves up front while 3-year-old Danny and I chose seats a few rows back.
That was a good choice.
Little did my big boys and their friends know that I would become an embarrassing mess of emotions during this kids’ film. I couldn’t help it. It’s just that there are so many parts of the plot that speak straight to a mother’s heart:
Kids growing up and leaving home, big kids’ struggles to leave “childish things” behind, the sweet memories and innocence of childhood playtime ... Oh for Pete’s sake, I am going to mess up my mascara again.
When I got back from the movie, I posted a confession to crying on Facebook and Twitter and was gratified to find out that I wasn’t alone in my emotional response to Toy Story 3. Lots of moms, dads, and even teens admitted that this movie gave them a lump in the throat as well.
Imagine my further gratification, then, when browsing the news this morning I came across this poll:
Toy Story 3 Poll: Did You Cry?
Daniel might have thought it strange that his mother was clutching him in her lap and sobbing into his hair during those final scenes of a funny kids’ movie, but at least I know that I am not alone. Anyone else care to join me in fessing up?
