Where We’ve Been

Yesterday, former Vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin was in our town, stumping for U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is seeking re-election here in Georgia. (Sen. Chambliss is in a heated, crucial run-off that will determine whether or not the Democrats have a super-majority next term.)
When I heard that Gov. Palin was coming to our town, I decided to take the boys to hear her speak. This past political season has been especially interesting and my guys have been captivated like never before.
Event planners were smart—they had everyone else speak before Gov. Palin came onstage—including Sen. Chambliss and Georgia’s governor, Sonny Perdue. They knew the deal—everyone was there to see Sa-rah! Sa-rah!
And she delivered. Ms. Palin is a dynamic speaker who captivated the crowd with her confident delivery and clear-cut message. My boys were riveted, and they were still talking about her presentation this morning.
If I sound like I’m gushing, well, I probably am. I think Gov. Palin is wonderful. Even if I didn’t agree with her politics (which I absolutely do), I love that fact that she is a real woman, and a well-spoken and attractive leader who seems to successfully balance having a large family and using her God-given gifts to help lead our country. To me, she is like so many women I know, women who are open to life, who have a lot to offer, and who are not afraid to make a less-than-popular stance if it means standing for truth.
It was certainly a rally worth attending.
