Write or Die - Easy way to overcome Writer’s block

The writing zone - set word count and time

Okay, this is it. I have to write a post because I am a guest blooger.. and guest bloggers are supposed to blog about something. Doesn’t matter if they have nothing important to say.. They should have thought of that before they agreed to be a guest blogger! So here I am at Dr. Wicked dot com - with my timer set for ten minutes and my word count for 500. And I’m off.

Do you know about Dr. Wicked? It’s not as bad as it sounds…the wicked part is what happens if you don’t keep writing. If you pause for too long - a nice screeching violin sort of pervades the room. Just a step above fingernails on chalkboard. Not pretty. But basically that is the worse it gets. The object though is that it pushes one through writers block. And sometimes…. when one feels under pressure to produce something and one can’t move… it gets one going.

Oh… gosh.. I stopped for too long.. right there and the screen started changing colors and I was only seconds away from the screech. Yikes. But anyway this is really a very cool site I would think for homeschoolers - because you have to produce. Yes or the whole world (well anyone in the near vicinity of your computer) will know that words are not magically appearing on your screen.

Okay, the screen flashed pink for just another second - and I’m back in the saddle and heading down the trail. The little clock says I have 3 min and 31 seconds to go and only 249 words done. Hmmm. I set the word count for 500 words in ten minutes.. that was probably pushing it.

Boy, I sure am glad that prayer is not like this. But then again - maybe I need something like this for my prayer. Sometimes my prayer gets pretty stuck too. Now how in the heck would you rig that one up? Guess you might need to connect with a lighting bolt or something… go so long without praying and you get a little buzz.. a little longer and it turns into a jolt and we won’t even go with what happens if you go a week without prayer.

The screen turned pale pink and quickly started getting violent.. Because I stopped! Oh my gosh.. and there is only 43 seconds to go and I’m at least a hundred and ten words short. Oooh.. don’t know what will happen.

Oh and now Sr. Colleen is talking to me about snow! It’s doing it in Montana. This could slow down my word count very bad. I can’t carry on a conversation about snow now!

Ooohhhhhh - it’s all over!

426 words and all that happened was a trumpet sounded. The race is over. I lost.. but hey I did write something.
