You Can Stop Looking for God - I Found Him!

Have you ever looked for something only to find it was right, smack in front of you? All the frantic searching, pleading to Saint Anthony and yelling out, “Who stole my ? (fill in blank) was totally unnecessary. It wasn’t lost in the first place. You were just confused, addled and not seeing what was in front of you.
Hi! My name is Sister Patricia and I am a Poor Clare nun in Spokane, Washington. I joined the Poor Clares when I was 25 in 1981. In the 28 years since then (do the math, I’m now 52) I have spent a lot of time trying to find to God only to find that I needn’t have bothered. God was right there - smiling and welcoming in front me, like the glasses on my nose.
It’s not that I have never found God. I have. Many times. It’s just that sometimes ... in crazy moments I think I have misplaced Him again.
A few weeks ago, maybe longer, time goes much faster than I do, I did a radio interview with a Franciscan Friar named Albert Haase. It was one of those wonderful interviews where as soon as you are done you want to say, “Could I interview you next week, and the week after that and the week after that?? It wasn’t that his story was so fantastic, over the top…. it was that he explained in such a simple way how close God is. You didn’t have to open up a book or even get down on your knees and close your eyes and say something. God was just right there. Without you doing anything.
Well, I have finally come to the point, (yes some of us are slower than others) that it’s not dependent upon me at all. God simply is. If I have lost Him… the only one who has moved is me. To find Jesus I simply need to stop, look about me and say, “Hell-o.” Jesus will always say, “Hell-o” back. He is always that close.
