Yum!

Friends, you all know I’m not the resident cook here at Faith & Family, but I have to tell you I am in love with a kitchen appliance! I recently had the opportunity to review a Cuisinart ICE-21TQ Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker
I’ve never had an ice cream maker before, so I have no basis for comparison, but this is now my favorite kitchen toy. Prepare early by having ingredients on hand, and know that you will need to wait at least twenty four hours for your first batch, since the freezer bowl needs to be prefrozen to work. Once this is done, you’re all set and making ice cream is a breeze. I made the simple vanilla recipe in the accompanying cookbook (which has lots of great options, both simple and complex) and used 2% milk and heavy cream. The results were amazing. Our ice cream was beautiful, a perfect consistency and tasted wonderful! The yield was perfect for three of us and we had some left over which we froze for the next night. I’ll be experimenting next with sorbet and expect to use this quick and easy device twice a week. I love its fun color, compact size, and simple interface.
So now I’m looking for recipes and suggestions. Do you have a favorite type of ice cream, frozen yogurt or sorbet? I’d love to hear about your favorites!
