6 Picks for Easter

Fill your baskets with these winners!

Are you planning on something extra special for your children’s Easter baskets?

Check out my Easter basket picks — I’ve gone through a number of Easter products and picked these favorites to share with Faith & Family readers.

As an extra treat for readers, some of these companies have offered their Easter items for giveaway on the blog. Watch Faith & Family Live this week for a chance to win chocolate Easter lambs from the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi and a gardening kit from PersonalCreations.com.

1. Sisters of Francis of Assisi Chocolate Lambs

Move over chocolate bunnies! Sisters of Francis of Assisi Chocolate Lambs are a rich symbol of the Paschal Lamb and proceeds help support the sisters. A package includes one solid milk chocolate and one dark chocolate bunny that are 2 1/2” tall. $11.95, from MonasteryGreetings.com or (800) 472-0425.

2. Bunny Growing Kit With Watering Can

Foster a love of gardening with this fun Easter gardening kit. Includes a personalized watering can (5"H x 5"W), three seed packet (carrots, tomatoes, and lettuce), and a plush bunny (12”H). $19.99, from PersonalCreations.com.

3. Tangled

Tangled is a safe bet for big kids’ baskets. My 16-year-old daughter enjoyed this animated feature as much as my preschoolers did. I was struck by the sense of joy this re-telling of the story of Rapunzel—the uber-long-haired heroine—evoked. $16.99, from Amazon.com.

4. Rapunzel Audio

Add to your child’s library with Rapunzel and Other Classics of Childhood audiobook. Actors Robby Benson and Dudley Moore — accompanied by music and sound effects — read three well-loved short stories: the Brothers Grimm “Rapunzel”, “Rumplestiltskin”, and the Norwegian fairy tale, “The Princess on the Glass Hill.”  $9.95, (1 CD) from BlackstoneAudio.com or (800) SAY-BOOK.

5. James’ All Natural Saltwater Taffy

If your kids are like mine and go nutty when they eat artificial colors and high fructose corn syrup, then you’ll be thrilled with James’ All Natural Taffy. The taffy comes in nine real flavors: banana, chocolate, lemon, molasses, orange, peanut, peppermint, strawberry, and vanilla. $8.99, from SeashoreTaffy.com or (800) 93.TAFFY.

6. Natural Vines Licorice

Another Easter basket treat that will please the kids and mom and dad is Natural Vines Licorice—in Black and Strawberry flavors.  I’m always on the lookout for a healthy licorice that has the taste and texture of real licorice—like the kind you buy at the movies. I finally found what I was looking for in Natural Vines, which is made by the same company that makes Red Vines. Natural Vines contains no artificial colors/ flavors, trans fats, or high fructose corn syrup—and it’s still yummy! $15.92 (Pack of 6, 8-Ounce Bags), from Amazon.com.

All great ideas!  Thanks for sharing smile

Those lambs are too cute!

One thing that brings Easter to May Day (an old Catholic custom) is to save the colored egg shells after you’ve opened them and use them on ribbons for a a May Day bush, flower, basket…and give to a loved one or neighbor.

I really like the taffy and licorice ideas.  I have one that seriously bounces off walls with certain food additives.  I am not perfect about eliminating them from his diet but I am working on it.

For some true spiritual sweetness consider tucking some of my Christian children’s board books in to your little ones’ Easter Baskets: Celebrate Family, Celebrate Animals, Celebrate Me and You, Celebrate Feelings! Find them at http://www.catholicword.com or through my website above:  http://www.heidibratton.com.  Happy Easter so very soon!

Please know that there are TWO ERRORS in your advertising of my Chocolate Lambs. They are: Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi (Not: Sisters of Francis of Assisi); and the items are paschal lambs (Not: bunnies).
Please correct these errors as soon as possible.
Thank you.
